The former Commissioner of the National Commission on
Human Rights and Freedoms (NCHRF) rests in peace.
During the burial ceremony on Saturday, 24 February
2024 in Yaoundé, Commissioner Mrs Bouba Hawe Hammam, representing Prof James
Mouangue Kobila, Chairperson of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission (CHRC),
led a delegation from the institution to pay a final tribute to this courageous
human rights defender.
Mrs Bouba Hawe Hammam, sat in the place of honour
reserved for the CHRC Chairperson, alongside Mr Philemon Yang, former Prime
Minister, recently elected as the President of the upcoming United Nations
General Assembly.
The late Commissioner's dedicated work in the
protection of human rights within the NCHRF from October 2014 to February 2021,
as well as outside the commission, earned her several international awards.
